Your films stream from your media servers, straight to your device. The app has no ads and doesn’t send us viewing analytics. Your own watch progress stays with your servers and devices; additional household profiles sync their progress through your Avelio account, where it is stored encrypted.

What you need to know before connecting your server.
What is Avelio?
Avelio is a media player for your own movies and TV shows. Connect Jellyfin, Plex, Emby or Hearth to browse your libraries together, find something to watch and choose the source you want to play.
Do I need an Avelio account?
No. Choose Connect a provider in the app and sign in directly to Jellyfin, Plex, Emby or Hearth. You can also connect directly in the web player.
An Avelio account is optional. Use one to bring your saved server connections, preferences and Likes to your other devices, along with your recommendation profile when personalisation is enabled.
Your media server sign-in and Avelio Plus are separate. The native App Store apps play your connected libraries in up to 1080p HD for free, without an Avelio account; Avelio Plus unlocks 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, offline downloads on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and household viewing profiles.
What information does Avelio receive?
The app doesn’t send us viewing analytics or the account holder’s viewing history. If you use an Avelio account, we store your account details and the information needed for sync, including the watch progress of any other viewing profiles you add, encrypted. Your servers still receive what you play.
Browsing also makes requests for things like posters, title information and trailers. The services providing those receive those requests. This homepage counts visits without cookies, and uses Google Analytics only if you accept it; neither is included in the native apps or web player.
Does Avelio work with Jellyfin, Plex and Emby?
Yes, and Hearth too. You can use several connected servers together. Your media comes from your provider, without passing through Avelio’s own servers. You don’t need to move your files or migrate your collection.
Where can I use Avelio?
The web player is available now. Avelio for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV is available on the App Store. Free downloads are also available for Windows, Android and Google TV. Browser playback depends on the formats your browser supports and access to your server.
Are movies or streaming subscriptions included?
No. Avelio plays media from servers you have access to. It doesn’t include movies, TV shows or subscriptions to streaming services. The preview collection uses fictional titles so you can explore without connecting a server.
How does Avelio Plus work?
The native App Store apps play your connected libraries in up to 1080p HD for free. Avelio Plus unlocks 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision playback, offline downloads on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and household viewing profiles. Each viewer gets their own progress, favourites and recommendations. Eligible new subscribers get a 1-month free trial. The App Store shows the price in your currency before you subscribe. The browser player needs no subscription, and you can explore the browser preview now without an account or server.
Do I need Hearth to use Avelio?
No. Jellyfin, Plex and Emby work on their own or together. Connecting Hearth adds its discovery catalog, media requests and request progress. Requests depend on your server’s permissions and available content.
Will my videos need conversion?
Avelio prefers original playback. If a different container is needed, it can keep compatible video intact. If your video needs conversion, you decide whether to allow it. The player shows the delivery method. What plays depends on the file, server, device and connection.
Does my progress follow me between servers?
When you stop or finish watching in Avelio, it updates matching copies on your other connected servers where supported. Resume positions are shared between versions with matching runtimes. This works without an Avelio account.
What does an Avelio account sync?
Saved server connections, preferences and Likes, plus a compact recommendation profile when personalisation is enabled. Saved server sign-ins are encrypted on the account service. Your own watch history is not uploaded through account sync; other viewing profiles in your household sync their watch progress, encrypted.
